An east wind is always a wild scene at the docks. The Breakwall is designed exactly for this, to protect the marina from its impact and potential damage.
Bob went up to the observation tower to assess the storm so far. So, we get a bird’s eye view, as of 2 p.m. this afternoon.
We hope you all are in safe places to ride out this blizzard. It’s predicted to be a doozy! ❄️💨❄️💨❄️

After a lot of equipment time, muscle, and man hours, Peterson’s boat is almost freed from the ice! They should be out to lift nets later today! 👏

The seagulls are swarming and squawking at the fishing boat on its way back to the marina. Hoping for scraps. Fun to watch.

The second picture shows what a hard working fishing boat looks like up a bit closer, in January. Tough winter conditions.

The fresh local catch, from the icy waters of Lake Superior, will make its way to the shelves at Peterson’s Fish Market in Hancock.
Plan accordingly. Yum! Enjoy the good stuff.

We recommend following the Keweenaw Trails Reports. From time to time we will share their posts here as well, to help keep everyone in the loop.🧐

We are hoping for a wonderful winter season this year! ☃️

And remember, you are welcome to stop by the docks to take pictures of yourselves on your sleds, with the lake and the ice formations as your background. Waves crashing on the Breakwall are pretty dramatic! 🌊

The restrooms are warm and are open all winter. In fact we can handle winter camping as well as lodging in the vacation houses. ⛺️
