The tiny home is finally available to book!!

Located just down the road at Hankerd's Horseshoe Lake Campground, the tiny home has access to Horseshoe Lake, Blue Gill lake and plenty of trails! As well as the other campground amenities. It’s a fantastic chance to go camping but not have to sleep in a tent. 😉

We just had our first group check in for the season! We are full this weekend and our summer is filling up very fast!

A little history on our property:

Campfire Cabins sits on land that once hosted Frontier Lodges — a classic mid-century stop for travelers, hunters, and adventurers heading north on old US-27, which was the main road in the area before I-75 was created. These cabins were built in the late 1940's.

Originally built as a 5-cabin retreat after World War II, the property has evolved over time. Many travelers visited Frontier Lodges in the post WW2 boom. These types of places started popping up all over Northern Michigan in the late 1940's - early 1950's. Unfortunately, most of them have been torn down and fully remodeled. Some have simply been lost to time.

Two of the original Frontier cabins were lost to fire (one remains as a shed on the southwest side), while the remaining cabins still stand today.

You’re staying in a real piece of Northern Michigan history.

We hope you feel that old-school "Up North" vibe when you stay with us - something that’s slowly disappearing.

You can now rent out the entire property! It's the perfect place to bring your large group! Hangout together all day grilling out, playing horseshoes and making memories. Then everyone gets their own cabin to get some privacy at night!

If you recall our first post, we have the cutest little tiny home along with our 3 cabins.

Unfortunately, because the tiny home is titled as an RV, the county will not allow us to have it on our property because we are not a licensed campground. So what did we do?

We teamed up with Hankerd's Horseshoe Lake Campground and moved the tiny home over there! They are just 3 miles straight south of us. They have the most peaceful, beautiful campground. With walking trails leading to two seperate lakes and the owners are just wonderful!

So stay tuned! Next weekend we will be getting a nice private site set up in the back of their campground and we will get the tiny home online and available for rent!

When’s the last time you got to unplug for awhile?

We have been working hard getting these vintage 1940’s built cabins modernized and ready to go! While keeping enough of that old school up north cabin vibe.

We plan to go live TOMORROW and start accepting bookings on our three cabins for May 11th and after.

We are close to everything here in Ga***rd. World class golf, fishing, fantastic ORV trails, biking trails, canoeing, amazing food, beaches and everything else northern Michigan has to offer.
