The Hartford House Bed & Breakfast now has 4 units! Our original four-room Garden Suite on the second floor of the secluded south wing of the Hartford House, has been joined by three new units on the second floor of the Main wing of the house. All three of the new units share a second floor kitchen stocked with goodies and appliances, including a microwave, coffee maker, toaster and even a small washer/dryer! 1. The Gen Wadsworth Suite, the former Master Bedroom in the house built by Civil War Gen. James Wadsworth in 1835, has over 400 square foot to spread out and relax. It has two Queen beds and a large living area with a sofa and HD TV. A desk is provided to set up your computer and use our Wi-Fi. The attached private bathroom has both a shower enclosure and a large whirlpool bath soaking tub with air bubbles. 2. The Senator’s Room is named for U.S. Sen. James W. Wadsworth. Jr. who lived in the house from 1932-1952. It features a King-size bed and a private bathroom with a combination tub/shower. It also has a HD TV with a Roku and Wi-Fi. 3. The Alice Hay Room is named for Alice Hay Wadsworth, the daughter of U.S. Secretary of State John Hay, and wife of Sen. Wadsworth. She was instrumental in refurbishing the Hartford House in the late 1920s and lived on in the house for an additional 10 years after the death of the Senator in 1952. The room featured a very large antique 4- poster bed and matching wardrobe. The room has a small private bath with a shower. Finally, The Garden Suite remains the choice for those who value their privacy! It has a separate entrance off the swimming pool area and is the only unit that allows pets (with prior permission and a pet fee based on number and size of pets!)
The Garden Suite master bedroom overlooking the walled English garden on the south end of the house is appointed with a comfy pillow-top queen size mattress. The sitting room with a view of the Genesee Valley features an antique cast iron daybed, HD TV and Wi-Fi. The Garden Suite’s private dining area is equipped with microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, vintage china and glassware, sliver-plated flatware and everything else needed to enjoy breakfast at your leisure. The Garden Suite’s private washroom with 1920's vintage fixtures including enameled cast iron tub. Hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner and soaps provided. With the recent addition of baseboard electric heat, the Garden Suite is now open year round!
