A little love for Georgetown, and we’re honored to be part of the story.

Travel + Leisure recently spent time exploring our corner of the Lowcountry, naming Georgetown the Best Small Retirement Town in the U.S. for 2026 and sharing a guide to some of the places that make this waterfront town so special.

Arriving by boat?

Harborwalk Marina, our next-door neighbor and partner, makes days on the water an easy part of time at The George. Dock for dinner at The Independent Georgetown, make a stay of it, or spend the day exploring Winyah Bay and the surrounding waterways.

The marina offers floating docks, fuel, a Captain’s Lounge and other dockside amenities, and for those without a boat of their own, half- and full-day pontoon rentals can be arranged.

If you’re planning to arrive by boat, just be sure to reserve your dockage with Harborwalk Marina ahead of your visit.

On September 19, we’ll set out from The George for our final Hobcaw Barony Boat Tour of the season — an afternoon spent exploring one of the Lowcountry’s most storied landscapes.

Spanning 16,000 acres between the Waccamaw River and Atlantic Ocean, Hobcaw Barony holds centuries of Lowcountry history now preserved for conservation, research and education.

Our experience begins with bubbles on the water before a guided tour of historic Hobcaw House, then brings you back to The George for a complimentary drink at Eliza’s.
