Have a canine companion? Bring them along! We are super-duper dog-friendly, with 30 acres of walking trails, a one-acre fenced dog run, no dog fees, and no breed or size restrictions. We just ask that you only bring dogs that have no history of aggression, for everyone's safety.

The rain in the shade garden at Swan Cottage is so peaceful!

FAQ: What happens when it rains?
Couples frequently ask about rain coming into the Historic Barn event venue. We are excited to report that the roof is quite good at its job of keeping weather out! The slat walls, which let in beautiful light, also work hard to keep folks dry. If the wind is gusting and sending the rain flying in horizontally? We will need to pull the tables a foot or two away from the far wall, just in case, however it’s rare that the winds and rain are strong enough to require that adjustment. You and your guests will be warm and cozy in the barn, listening to the pitter patter of rain dancing on the roof.

How does rain affect ceremonies? We are fortunate to have the Solarium as a beautiful indoor ceremony option, both as a rain plan and also as a first choice for many couples who just like an elegant room with high ceilings and walls of windows overlooking our gorgeous gardens!

Make sure to take some well-earned down time... perhaps a nap in a hammock?! An option we highly recommend!!! Unless you don't like relaxing underneath trees; they can be a little shady.

Before a full day exploring the battlefield, our guests started their morning with the story behind it.
Our guests gathered on the lawn before breakfast for a presentation by Steve Gunlock, who brought the story of the Battle of Gettysburg to life right here on the grounds where it happened. Steve appeared in period uniform alongside a table of original artifacts, giving everyone a firsthand sense of what soldiers carried and experienced 163 years ago.
It is one of our favorite parts of welcoming guests to Battlefield Bed and Breakfast Inn: history is not something you read about here, it is something you stand on. And then, breakfast was waiting to fuel the day ahead.

The guests having a reunion this weekend were excited to share the magic of our nature preserve with the younger generation. While the gazillion frogs that live in/by the pond are prolific, the little family of frogs in the fish pond next to the porch were much easier for little kids to admire up close!
