🇺🇸 GETTYSBURG IS ABOUT TO HAVE A WEEK LIKE NO OTHER! 🇺🇸
If you’ve been looking for a reason to visit Gettysburg this November, November 18–22, 2026, is the week to do it!
Gettysburg will come alive with a once-in-a-generation recreation of President Abraham Lincoln’s 1863 visit, the Gettysburg Address, Dedication Day, live music, remembrance events and more — all happening during America’s 250th anniversary year.
And one of the coolest parts? A STEAM TRAIN IS COMING TO GETTYSBURG! 🚂
🚂 Wednesday, November 18
A replica 4-4-0 American-style steam locomotive will arrive at the historic Gettysburg Lincoln Railroad Station at approximately 3 PM, carrying President Lincoln — portrayed by Hollywood actor Billy Campbell — along with members of his cabinet.
The locomotive, No. 17 William H. Simpson, was built in 2013 by Kloke Locomotive Works and is now owned by Northern Central Railway of York. It looks like a classic wood-burning steam locomotive, but it actually runs on recycled waste oil!
This is part of Lincoln at Gettysburg: Shall Not Perish, a special recreation of Lincoln's 1863 visit to Gettysburg.
🇺🇸 Thursday, November 19
The recreation continues with Lincoln’s visit to the battlefield and the procession from Lincoln Square to Soldiers’ National Cemetery, followed by the Dedication Day commemoration honoring the soldiers who were being reinterred there in 1863.
🎶 Friday, November 20
History gives way to music!
Live on Lincoln Square brings Uncle Kracker, Six Wh***ey Revival and Nick Mich Music to the heart of downtown Gettysburg for a full evening of live music.
🕯️ Saturday, November 21
Experience one of Gettysburg’s most moving traditions — the 24th Annual Remembrance Day Illumination.
More than 3,500 luminaries will light the graves of Civil War soldiers at Gettysburg National Cemetery while the names of the fallen are read throughout the evening.
And there’s even more happening throughout the weekend, including the Foothills Artists Studio Tour on November 21–22.
🍂 Want to make a weekend of it?
Granite Hill Camping Resort is open through Thanksgiving weekend, and we have a limited number of sites available for this special week in Gettysburg.
Come camp, explore Gettysburg and experience this incredible lineup of events — but BOOK SOON!
