Our Story

Brookwood Camps began in 1938 on the beautiful grounds of the former Proctor Estate and quickly became the premier summer camp getaway for youths. In 1986, Ken and Donna Fiedler acquired Brookwood after spending 13 years as Owner/Directors of Camp Lenni-Len-A-Pe and another 20+ years as Director or Head Counselor in various camps throughout the Northeast. “Uncle Kenny” Fiedler’s decades of experience in the camp industry combined with his background as a Physical Education teacher and High School Coach provided a foundation of leadership and high-character that was felt in every camper and staff member within the Brookwood Family for the next 30 years. In 2000, Scott Fiedler joined his parents Ken and Donna as Co-Director of Brookwood following a 10-year career as a college basketball coach. And in 2013, former NFL Quarterback Jay Fiedler, joined the rest of the family in running Brookwood. With their extensive background in sports, the Fiedler Family transformed the camp into The Sports Academy at Brookwood Camps, bringing in professional level coaches in a variety of sports and activities to coach the campers while maintaining the traditional values and fun that Brookwood has always offered for many generations of campers.
