Horseback Trail Guide Position Opening
Qualifications
Provide basic riding and safety instruction to guests to ensure they have a positive experience
Excellent customer service skills in English
Must be able to use outdoor maintenance equipment ( w**d eaters, etc.)
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
Minimum of 2+ years equine riding experience is required
Walking on trails, up and down hills, for long distances
Responsibilities
Lead entertaining and informative trail rides throughout the property
Provide daily care for horse and barnyard animals to include feeding, brushing, washing, and inspecting for health concerns
Assist in the exercise and training of the horses to provide safe and worry-free rides and activities in a variety of conditions and locations and with riders of varying skill levels
Always ensure safety of guests and colleagues
Assist guests in enjoying recreation offerings.
Clean rental units (change bedding and vacuum rooms)
Provide information to guests regarding all aspects of the resort, upselling offerings in all departments
Handle all guest requests, observations, and complaints in a timely and effective manner, achieving guest satisfaction
Ensure that equipment, tack, and feed is properly maintained, put away and stored and that all buildings and gates are secure at the end of the day
Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the barnyard, recreation areas, facilities, and equipment
Farm Operations
Ensure that all equipment is properly stored, and facilities are secured at the end of the shift
Provide exceptional care of all farm animals, to include feeding, grooming, veterinary care, hoof care, facility, and pasture maintenance
Assists with maintenance and upkeep of the farm vegetable garden
Timely and accurate completion of daily task lists.
Duties are typically performed in an outdoor setting and in the elements
Long periods of standing, riding, reaching, lifting, and carrying maintenance and recreation equipment of up to 50-75lbs
Enforce safety measures in all riding activities.
Teach western riding skills, feeding, watering, and grooming of horses to guest.
Assist with the care and handling of horses and tack.
Demonstrate safe horsemanship when working anywhere around the horses (riding ring, on the trail, at the stable, bringing horses in from pasture) and wearing long pants when riding.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Current certification or ability to receive certification in First Aid and CPR.
• Physical signed by medical professional within past 24 months.
• Possess western horseback riding skills.
• Ability to accept guidance and supervision.
• Ability to communicate and work with groups of children and provide necessary riding instructions to all guests.
• The physical strength and endurance to teach horseback riding skills for a minimum of six hours a day plus the strength to help feed, groom, and tack multiple horses daily.
• The knowledge, strength, and skill to lead and handle horses.
• Be willing to live in a bunkroom
• Minimum of 18 years of age.

All staff must be familiar with the safety rules and regulations. They must take reasonable steps to ensure their own health and safety, and that of anyone else who may be affected by their actions.
