What is this musical all about?

The real-life story behind “Come From Away” took place during the week of September 11, 2001, in Gander, Newfoundland, Canada, under a massive Canadian aviation emergency initiative known as Operation Yellow Ribbon.

The Diversion

When the U.S. airspace was abruptly closed following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Canada safely grounded incoming transatlantic flights. Because Gander International Airport was historically a major transatlantic refueling stop, it possessed massive runways capable of handling heavy commercial airliners.

A total of 38 wide-body civilian planes carrying 6,579 passengers and crew were forced to land there. Overnight, the unexpected arrivals nearly doubled the population of the small, isolated town of roughly 10,000 residents.

We will be at Beachfront RV Park today debuting our new special menu items: The Fiery Kahuna, and The Hawaiian/Pineapple Luau. These half pound Sausages are made by magically blending pork and pineapple together for a savory and slightly sweet, but indulgent treat. The Fiery Kahuna is topped with peach mango salsa, Habanero Sriracha mayo, jalapenos and your choice of flaming hot dust, making for a pretty heated experience. The Hawaiian Luau has a grilled ring of pineapple, scallions and a Ginger Garlic Teriyaki Glaze. So delicious, it'll fill you up and hit that sweet tooth. We will also have our now famous Smash Burgers on deck as well. Can't wait to feed you. Let's GO!

Next Sunday (8/30): classical music, an organic farm, and the kind of late-summer afternoon the South Coast does best.

IN A LANDSCAPE brings a 9-foot Steinway to Valley Flora Farm in Langlois for one concert only. 5–6:30 PM, doors at 4. Wireless headphones let you wander the fields and creek while the music plays.

A few things to know before you go:
– Bring chairs or a blanket (no seating provided)
– Pack a picnic — outside food and drink welcome
– Parking is tight; carpool if you can
– No dogs at this site

Whaleshead Beach is one of the most gorgeous destinations along the Southern Oregon Coast. Located just 7 miles north of Brookings within the spectacular Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor, this picturesque one-mile stretch of sandy shoreline is known for its dramatic coastal scenery.

Its namesake sea stack features a natural rock channel that creates a remarkable spectacle. When waves crash through the opening, a plume of water shoots into the air, resembling a whale’s spout, hence Whaleshead Beach its iconic name.
