Before and after bedroom photos compared to the Zillow listing for Casey’s Hideaway. I always have so much fun picking out paint colors and the purple gray in this bedroom has always been a favorite of mine.

Also, this bright light blue is the WORST color to cover. 😂 If you’re thinking about using it in your home don’t unless you never want to change it. I’ve had to cover it in 3 different houses and it’s a pain.

This was my great grandmother and I in the 80s. Her name was Dorothy, but I knew her as Mama (muh-MAH). She appreciated nice things, loved babies, was a great cook (she always had coconut pies made for me in the freezer), and she collected bells.

When I was going through my old family furniture I knew I wanted to use her tiered table in Kathy’s Hideaway, but wasn’t sure how. At some point when I was setting the house up I realized that there would be no better use for the table than as a “guest book.”

My plan is to print this story and a photo or two of Mama and I to welcome people who stay to add to the collection. I added the first bell, an angel. When my last guest left she said she chose a bell with a cardinal because she always saw one close to the house.

I think Mama would be happy. 🔔💚

A leak made itself known over the last few months and I couldn’t put off replacing the roof any longer. Add that to the “it’s done so now I don’t have to worry about it” list.

Thanks to Wayne Sanchez Roofing for making quick work of this, leaving the yard clean, and for the accurate quote, there was just a small adjustment at the end to replace a little more rotten wood than they anticipated.

I had a great first guest who stayed for six months. She left the place looking great, so resetting was a breeze. 💚

Someone has made himself at home in Casey’s Hideaway. 💚 Day one he kept running back to the car, but he quickly warmed up to his temporary home.

It’s almost time to say goodbye to my first guest. Bittersweet because she’s been amazing!

She helped me keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary since the house was new to me. About a month ago she let me know about a spot in the bathroom that appeared after we started getting so much rain about a month ago.

I’m unhappy to report that Kathy’s Hideaway needed a new roof. The good news is that it has been replaced.

After almost walking away with nothing from my impromptu stop by Twin Brothers Antiques…not because I didn’t want anything, but because I wanted too much…I had to get her. She should be the perfect addition to “Casey’s Hideaway.”

But I will be honest…I may keep her for myself. 😂
