It's time for the next chapter...
The sale of the station will be finalized this week. It was bittersweet as I turned off the lights, locked up, and pulled out of the driveway for the last time this weekend. The sun gleaming through the trees and I could feel the faint breeze of fall approaching. I'm grateful to the incredible community, customers, and local business owners that supported Station 282. It truly was a hub - friendships and lifelong memories were created for not only myself, but for many of you, too! I never expected to leave the Northwoods, but life presented an opportunity I couldn't pass up (even dreams need financing, haha).
Many people have asked who the new owner will be. I can share with you that her name is Jane. She is an artist and a teacher that runs a non-profit art and literacy camp for children in southern Wisconsin. She will be relocating to the station at some point, but will keep the AirBnB operating and come up as often as she is able. I wouldn't be surprised if you see the station open again in the not so distant future with activities/atmosphere for families and children to enjoy! She has the same connection and fondness for the station and its history that many of us share. I feel hopeful for the future of the property and the potential for it to be a place for all of you to enjoy again! I know the community will give her a warm welcome.
As far as my plans, I am closing on a new home in Hancock, Wisconsin at the end of October. It's a cute little gem nestled in the woods, close to lakes, trails and all the things I enjoy. If you know me, you know I don't sit idle for long, but I do plan to take a break from "big" projects for a while. I'm looking forward to spending more time with family, friends, my pups, and traveling. I have a few ideas up my sleeve and will eventually transition this page to my next adventure. I've been asked about starting a Wisconsin Travel Page - I love the idea of that and somehow spinning it to support little communities like Goodman that will now, more than ever, be relying on tourism to sustain small business.
Thank you again to every one of you for believing in Station 282. Whatever adventure I start next, please know I will continue to do good where I can and always lead with kindness. Much love! ~ Season
