IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Bumping River Road is closed to the public as of yesterday. This is due to the Wildcat Fire, which began last week on Monday. Sadly, we are closed probably for the rest of the season. We will post an update if that changes.
Thank you to all of you who stayed with us this year. We hope to see you back next year.
A big thank you to the firefighters who are working hard to get this fire under control and protect private properties. Please pray for their safety.

Our property sits right on Bumping River, and except for the sound of the river, it's very quiet and peaceful here in our neck of the woods.

We're also about 50 minutes away from the White River entrance to Mount Rainier, and about an hour away from the Stevens Canyon entrance.

Due to a number of unforeseen circumstances, we will now be deciding whether or not to accept reservations for this year on May 1st.

Those of you who have met our owner Don or any of his children and grandchildren up at the retreat know that this is a family business in every sense--we manage the property, run the business, maintain the website, and care for our guests ourselves. Unfortunately, our family is struggling through a difficult season--in the last few months, we've lost two dearly beloved family members. This, coupled with staff shortage due to other medical emergencies, means that we need to make some difficult decisions about whether we'll be able to open this year at all.

We want to welcome you all back to our little haven this summer--after a winter like ours, we know how precious those little retreats can be. But we need a little more time to figure out how and if we can make that happen. We appreciate your patience, and, as always, we hope to see you again up at the retreat.

Sincerely,
The Bumping River Retreat team

Long walks and clear skies make for some excellent views up here near Bumping River! These photos were taken from a steep 12-mile hike up to Mt. Aix. The trailhead is less than 7 miles from the retreat, past Bumping Lake. The wildflowers are in season, and we even caught a glimpse of a hummingbird up above the ridge! An excellent day hike for more adventurous/seasoned walkers.

Thanks to Victor Immel for capturing these stunning views.
