The recent 'Ross Fire' in Palo Pinto County was a frightening reminder of just how quickly a wildfire can threaten our homes, businesses, and the beautiful community we all love.

During a scary time for so many of us, we witnessed an incredible response from the people who ran toward the danger while the rest of us were trying to get to safety.

To every firefighter, first responder, law enforcement officer, emergency crew, dispatcher, volunteer, and support team who worked tirelessly to protect our community — THANK YOU!! 🇺🇸

Thank you for the long hours, the courage, the sacrifice, and the countless things you did behind the scenes that many of us may never even know about. 🙏

We are incredibly grateful for the men and women who protect Palo Pinto County, Possum Kingdom Lake, and the surrounding communities.

And to our fellow neighbors, local businesses, volunteers, and everyone who stepped up to help one another thank you for showing what a strong community looks like! ❤️🥰❤️

Latest Fire Update

Since Friday, August 21, Texas A&M Forest Service has responded to 40 requests for assistance on wildfires burning 2,692.2 acres. In addition to heavy equipment, over 25 aviation resources are in state serving a vital role in suppressing wildfires across the state.

Two of these aircrafts are water scoopers. These specialized amphibious aircraft skim over lakes and rivers to collect large volumes of water, which they then drop on active fires to slow their spread and support ground crews.

Texas A&M Forest Service asks all boaters and watercraft users to avoid areas where these aircraft are operating. While these planes can be impressive to watch, getting too close poses serious safety risks, including potential collisions or pilot distractions, which can endanger both the flight crew and those on the water.

Scoot so we can scoop and give scooper aircraft the space they need to protect communities.
