The Nutt House has anchored the historic square in Granbury, Texas since the 1890s, built by brothers Jesse and Pleasant Nutt as a general store before it grew into one of Hood County's most recognized hotels. The limestone building still looks out over the same courthouse square it has watched for more than a century, surrounded by the gas lamps and brick storefronts that give Granbury its reputation as one of the best preserved town squares in the state.

Longtime staff and guests describe a woman in old fashioned dress seen moving through the upstairs hallways late at night, and more than one visitor has reported a rocking chair in an empty room swaying on its own with no draft to explain it. Some locals connect the sightings to the Nutt family itself, who ran the store and later the hotel for decades and whose name is still painted near the entrance.

A building that has held onto a family's name for well over a hundred years seems to hold onto other things too. What do you think it would take for a place to keep someone's presence around that long after they are gone?
