🌀Five years ago today.🌀
On August 29, 2021, Hurricane Ida made landfall and forever changed Grand Isle.
This video was taken during a chapter we never wanted to write for Skip-A-Beat. Like so many homes and businesses across the island, our little place took the full force of Ida. In a matter of hours, a place built for vacations, laughter, fishing trips, sunsets and memories was badly damaged.
But if there’s one thing Ida couldn’t wash away, it was the spirit of Grand Isle.
Over the months and years that followed, we watched this island rebuild one board, one roof, one camp and one family at a time. And we rebuilt right alongside it.
Five years later, Skip-A-Beat is still here. Grand Isle is still here. 🏝️🎣
Today, we’re not just remembering the storm. We’re remembering the people who helped, the neighbors who checked on neighbors, the workers who rebuilt, and everyone who refused to give up on this special little island at the end of Louisiana.
This old video is a reminder of just how far we’ve come.
Five years later, the sunsets are still beautiful, the fish are still biting, the memories are still being made… and Skip-A-Beat is still beating. 🌊❤️
Here’s to Grand Isle — battered, rebuilt, and always worth fighting for. ⚜️
