Most people drive right past Nucla on their way to Telluride. We like to stop. The Hanging Flume is a century-old wooden water channel built into the face of a sheer canyon wall and it still looks like it shouldn't exist. This is what the Western Slope looks like when you leave the main road. Plenty of spots like this within a day trip of our place.

Colorado Waterfall Road Trip ~ A San Juan Mountain Adventure

If you love waterfalls, the San Juan Mountains might be one of the most underrated road trips in Colorado.

Within just a few hours of each other, you’ll find some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the entire state tucked into the forests, cliffs, and mountain passes around Ouray, Silverton, and Pagosa Springs.

Many are right off the road along the famous Million Dollar Highway, while others require short hikes through alpine forests or hidden canyons.
