Summer in Grand Lake, Colorado starts with a Rocky Mountain National Park Timed Entry Reservation - here's everything you need to know before you arrive:
• May 1 → reservations for May 22-June 30
• June 1 → July 1-31
• July 1 → August 1-31
• August 1 → September 1-30
• September 1 → October 1-18
Two permit types are available:
• Standard Timed Entry covers Trail Ridge Road, the Alpine Visitor Center, Kawuneeche Valley, Old Fall River Road, and outlying areas including North Inlet and East Inlet.
• Timed Entry+ Bear Lake Road adds the Bear Lake corridor and in-park shuttle access.
Peak summer crowds mean a reservation is required to enter between 9am and 2pm, but don't worry if you miss out, just plan to arrive before 9 or after 2.
Entering from the west side of the park means less traffic, more room to breathe, and a genuinely different experience than the Estes Park entrance. Get your reservation at https://www.recreation.gov/timed-entry/10086910
