There's no commercial laundry service up here. No housekeeping crew clocking in between guests. Just Mike and me, turning each of our six cabins ourselves before every single stay.

Fresh linens top to bottom - sheets, towels, duvet covers - every time. It takes longer. We do it anyway.

Trail Ridge Road - the highest continuously paved road in the country - is officially open for the season!

Timed Entry Reservations are required for Trail Ridge Road from 9 am to 2 pm.

Due to melting snow on the road and the potential for freezing temperatures visitors should be prepared for icy conditions. At this time, nightly closures will not be implemented. However, because weather conditions may change rapidly at higher elevations, park visitors should be prepared to adjust travel plans accordingly at any time and are encouraged to call the park’s Trail Ridge Road recorded status phone line at (970) 586-1222. Park staff will update the recorded line when/if the road status changes.

Grand Lake sits at the headwaters of the Colorado River. What happens here trickles a long way downstream - literally.

Water in the West is complicated - snowpack, runoff, lake levels, downstream demand. Grand Lake isn't immune to any of it. We're genuinely hoping for a rainy summer this year. But we also didn't want to just cross our fingers and carry on as usual.

This season, we've made two small changes at the cabins. We've taken flat sheets out of the linen rotation to reduce laundry loads - your fitted sheet, duvet cover, and pillowcase are still freshly washed for every new guest. And for the first time, we're asking guests to reach for the recycled paper plates in the kitchen over the regular dishes when they can.

Neither one feels like a grand gesture. But they feel right for where we are and what this place means to us. Thanks for being the kind of traveler who gets it.
