The company has conducted Adventure Trips in Northern Minnesota since 1978. When I was 11 years old, my mom, dad, sister and I witnessed a total eclipse in Mpls. June 1954. I never forgot it. Dad drove us to a city lake and we watched. Do not remember too much. Not sure what kind of eye wear we had. There were a lot of people watching too.
I have been reading about the fantastic stories from today. After the pandemic and our nation feeling so lonely, this was really something to behold. People cheering and clapping and smiling, their mouths open. Love it.
We needed this.

SKI THE BWCA’S BANADAD THIS 2024 WINTER
New this winter-The Lace Lake trail, east of Poplar Creek Guesthouse, will be groomed by Bearskin Lodge’s Pistinbully, snowcat, this winter. This machine grooms a wide trail for both skating and classic skiing. Lace Lake trail connects to the Central Gunflint Fee Trail system at the Poplar Creek Trail. This Loop trail follows ¾ of the original trail.

THE BANADAD –Last December, Curry, the trail’s long time groomer was killed in a fire. The snowmobiles used in grooming were also lost in the same fire. As a result, last year the trail was rarely groomed. The Banadad Trail Association (BTA), which operates the trail, has pledged to groom and track the Banadad this winter. As a commitment towards this goal, the Association cleared the trail this past fall; has purchased a snowmobile to replace the snowmobiles destroyed in the fire and are in the process of hiring experienced groomers.
WE HAVE OPERATED Poplar Creek Guesthouse, A SMALL COZY NORDIC INN along the Banadad for many years. We have direct ski trail access to the snowcat groomed Lace Lake loop trail and the Wilderness Banadad Trail. You can also access our many snowshoe trails from our door. THE LATEST DIRT FROM THE YURT


Last year, due to our health, we sold the yurts along the Banadad to the Banadad Trail Association. The Association chose not to operate the yurts. We were hopeful that the Association would offer yurt Lodging as a business opportunity to someone. One yurt was sold to a private party. The yurt located midway on the Banadad remains in place, closed to skiers and unused.



We are hopeful that someday the mid trail yurt will be taken over by someone as overnight lodging for those skiing the entire Banadad.
