HIGHLIGHTED OPENING: Bearskin Lodge is mostly full for summer, but we’re highlighting a few of the very best remaining openings.

ONLY ONE SUMMER SEASON OPENING LEFT IN THIS CABIN — Gorgeous Log Cabin #9, Sunday June 21 - Sunday June 28. (Or book this for a shorter stay.) This is our first week of free family activities. We will keep your kids and family members SO busy!

Spacious, high-end 2-bedroom log cabin built from hand-peeled Engelmann spruce, featuring a stunning stone fireplace and classic Northwoods charm. Because this is a close-in opening, here’s one of the rare peak summer times when Cabin 9 can be rented for a shorter visit. If you’ve always wanted to stay in one of the “luxury log cabins,” but don’t have a full week open, this is your chance. Stay Sunday - Sunday (7days, price of 6), or choose Monday-Friday (beat the Hwy 61 traffic), or we’ll also break it into two shorter stays.

Call us at 218-388-2292 or email [email protected]. Everything you need to know about Bearskin Lodge, the Gunflint Trail, and staying on the edge of Minnesota’s famed BWCA wilderness can be found by clicking here: www.bearskin.com Not quite the right dates or prices? We have a few more options available--we can help you make a plan.

Watch for moose along the shoreline, paddle crystal-clear lakes, hike scenic trails, and gather around campfires under brilliant starry skies. Chik-Wauk opens on Saturday! If you’re up here for Memorial Weekend, this is a “not to be missed” stop on the Gunflint Trail. Our family kids (and all their cousins) ♥️♥️♥️ trips to Chik-Wauk, no matter how often we go there (many times each summer!) Always an informative stop for the adults too. Enhance your visits to the Gunflint by learning the history, natural science, and geology of the place you love to be.

Bearskin has a very special, unique 20-acre property for sale, located not far off the Gunflint Trail on the Lima Grade. Surrounded by public lands, the nearby BWCA, hiking trails, ski trails -- with so little public land available in Cook County, it is rare to find this big a private parcel.

The BWCA borders the south lot line and National Forest borders the east lot line. Poplar Creek runs through the property. Pop on your x-country skis on the front steps and hit the Central Gunflint Trail system. This is an off-grid property so there is no power/broadband now; it is quite possible to bring in both. There are propane tanks for both cabins and there is a two-seater outhouse in place. Bring a generator along and hook up to it for power in the main cabin. The 320 sq. ft. guest cabin has its own propane tanks with a propane wall heater and a wood stove in place. We love the screen porch. Or consider this as an eventual buildable site for a future home in the woods.

This was originally offered as part of a 40 acre parcel. The other 20 acres (without any buildings) has been purchased. The new neighbor is a family friend/skier who will be an easy, quiet person to share a property line with. $259,000 for 20 acres and buildings.

The property has a narrow easement across it for the Poplar Creek Cross Country Ski Trail, groomed and used only in winter. That has very little impact on the total property, actually giving you better access. This property was never part of Bearskin Lodge, and was only purchased to establish continuing access for the ski trail.

Still wish you had Memorial Weekend plans? Cozy Cabin 5 is still open for this coming 3-day weekend. The forecast looks mostly decent and we are delighted to report that we have yet to see a bug anywhere! We also have two cabins open until Sunday, just not for the entire long weekend. Give us a call (218)388-2292 or email [email protected]. Visit www.bearskin.com for more info.

The East Bearskin Lake campground still has plenty of open sites. Expect to see a moose! It's been a very moosey spring around the Lodge and Campground. Every darn day, moose moose moose.

It’s moose viewing season on the Gunflint Trail! May and early June are the best times of each year to spot a moose. It’s not uncommon for Bearskin to have moose right around the lodge at this time of year, especially the younger ones whose mothers have decided it’s time for the teenager to fend for itself.

To find out more about moose and moose babies, here’s a great write-up from Kaitlin about living the best moose life:

Seeing a moose is a bucket list item for many Bearskin guests. What’s even better than seeing one moose? Seeing moose with babies! Baby moose (called calves) are born in […]
