Gunflint Lodge and Outfitters Lakeside cabins in the Minnesota Northwoods bordering the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The Fredrikson family took ownership of Gunflint Lodge in 2016.

Every season offers a different set of experiences at Gunflint but there are some things that never change. The peace of mind that the wilderness provides is abundant year round. The Kerfoot family had been here for 3 generations prior. John and Mindy Fredrikson truly enjoy welcoming guests to the Northwoods just as the Kerfoot family had for years. We like to help you explore our forest and find those places that are special. Our staff is always willing to talk with you about fun places to visit in the forest and lakes around us. So here are some ideas of what we see and do during the four seasons. We invite you to relax in one of our lakeside fireplace cabins, feast in our dining rooms, and play in our outdoors. A vacation to the Gunflint highlands of northern Minnesota is unique. The area is remote and pristine, where we have more wildlife (deer, moose, eagles, beaver, etc.) than people. Our northwoods, just 6 hours north of the Twin Cities, continues to exist in a time of urban sprawl and expanding suburbs. Words alone cannot do it justice and the only way to understand the Gunflint area is by experiencing it first hand. Here at Gunflint, moose encounters and animal sightings are more common than a visit by your neighbors. It would be our pleasure to welcome you and your family to our resort, which we hope will become your new "home in the woods".

The fall colors aren't the only spectacular show in the Northwoods this season. Some of the best entertainment happens after dark!

☄️ Orionids Meteor Shower — Happening now! The Orionids are active October 2–November 2, with peak activity expected tonight—October 21!

More meteor showers are yet to come this year: 🌠 Leonids Meteor Shower — Peaks around November 17.

✨ Geminids Meteor Shower — Peaks December 13–14 and is often one of the most impressive meteor showers of the year.

🔭 Dark Sky Festival December 10-13 — Another wonderful reason to celebrate the incredible night skies of the Gunflint Trail and coinciding almost perfectly with the Geminids Meteor Shower and right after the new moon!

Far from the bright lights of the city, Gunflint Lake is a magical place to watch the stars. Bundle up, find a quiet spot by the lake, let your eyes adjust to the darkness and enjoy the show.

But when one of the night’s monster guests meets a sudden end, it’s up to you to decode clues and interrogate the suspects! Was it the troubled werewolf, the coven leader, or the loyal zombie? There's murder afoot at Gunflint Lodge this November!

Our Murder Mystery Weekend: Toil and Trouble — at the Masquerade takes you back to 1933, when Count Svengalia hosts the Grand Masquerade of the Midnight Council.

But when one of the guests meets a mysterious end, everyone becomes a suspect. 🕵️

And this year, you're part of the mystery!

Guests will join one of four monster clans, each with a character from the story as its leader. Bring a costume if you'd like, gather clues, question suspects and see if you can solve the murder before the final reveal.
