The Bally House was built in 1913 and was home to the Bally family for nearly 100 years. The Bally’s were a prominent local family best known for their work as the community’s blacksmiths. The house is filled with antiques, furnishings and books that were a part of the Bally’s everyday lives. Guests are invited to make themselves at home and enjoy all that the house and grounds have to offer, incl

uding a sun porch, library, sitting room, gardens and fire pit. Games and puzzles are available in the library; Netflix is available on the television in the sitting room; and free high speed internet is available throughout the house. Bally House B&B offers four guest rooms on the second floor, each with a private bathroom. The rooms have been updated but continue to reflect the character and charm of the 1900’s.

The third least visited park is Isles Royal NP. Although the island is technically in Michigan it is much closer to Minnesota and is an easy day trip from Grand Marais (it does require some planning and pre booking of ferry tickets). You might consider trying it on your next visit.

Moose Madness is coming up this weekend. Time to visit Grand Marais and join in on all the moose-related activities. Who knows...maybe you will even be fortunate enough to spot a real moose in your travels through the County!

Cook County is the best place in the Midwest to spot a wide variety wild boreal creatures. The Minnesota Moose is the being the largest wild creature in the state, weighing 800-900 pounds, or about as much as four or five full-grown deer.
