MidMod Minnesota Lakehouse

MidMod Minnesota Lakehouse One of Architectural Digest's Most Beautiful Lake Houses

09/02/2026

Floor to ceiling glass facing the water. Warm wood paneling from 1955. Iconic mid-century modern architectural details all around you. 30 acres of forest and a quiet lake give you room to breathe. Sleeps 8 (or 14 if you add on the Finnish log cabin), so you can bring your people, not a guest list. This house was built for gathering, not rushing. DM us for details.

The MidMod Minnesota Lakehouse was designed in 1955 with one intention: to create a place to gather, slow down, and stay a while. Seventy years later, that’s still what it does best.

30 acres. Quiet lake. Cedar sauna. Forest trails. Sleeps 8. Dogs welcome.

Our next open weekend is the Indigenous People’s Day holiday, Oct. 9-12. Comment MIDMOD for the direct booking link.

The wildlife here is all around you. Loons call from the water. Deer appear at the tree line. Swans rest on the far shore. A beaver has made a home on the edge of the lake. Ducks migrate through. Bears feast on blackberries. This is what a protected lake and thirty acres of undisturbed forest produces. Not a nature preserve. A home where the wildlife and the people share the space quietly.

30 acres. MCM design. Quiet lake. Cedar sauna. Forest trails. Sleeps 8. Dogs welcome.

It starts with the walk from the house to the sauna — cold enough that you can see your breath. Ends about two hours and four lake jumps later, wrapped in a robe on the porch, not saying much of anything.

Bring your people. The ones you don’t see enough. Sit by the fire pit under the maples while they turn gold, roast marshmallows without watching your phone, play cards inside by the fireplace until someone finally notices it’s gotten late. This is what the MidMod does: it gives you space to be fully present.

The Northwoods knows how to slow time. Out here, the view does the work. Wind on the water, quiet in every direction. Take a step back, take it in, and let the stillness set the pace.

Nobody’s rushing him off the water. Nobody’s here to do that. Just a quiet lake and a mid-century lakehouse.

Seven decades. Four families. The first owner protected wild lands. The third diversified the forest. The current owners maintain both the house and the woods. None of them changed what Jyring & Whiteman designed. None of them treated the land as something to fix. This is stewardship: the choice to protect something instead of improve it.
