We are thrilled to share the news that the Scandinavian Log Cabin at the MidMod Minnesota Lakehouse will begin welcoming guests on October 19.
Together, the lakehouse and cabin are made for larger groups: a 1955 mid-century modern 4,000 sf home and a hand-hewn log cabin that began its life in Finland. The cabin sits a short walk from the MidMod, across the large lawn. The house is where everyone comes together for shared meals and long nights by the stone fireplace. The cabin is where a few of you slip away, with comfortable beds and a wood stove waiting.
The cabin was brought to Minnesota and reassembled on site several years ago. The former owners used it as an arts studio, and we’ve since transformed it into a cozy bunkhouse. It is one 500-square-foot open room of hewn log walls under a warm wood ceiling. You’ll find two bunk beds, a queen bed across the room, and a loveseat and coffee table pulled up to the wood-burning stove. A long game table with six bar stools sits under the windows.
The entry has a kitchenette with a water jug (filled before you arrive), a microwave, an electric kettle, and a Keurig coffee maker. The cabin is rustic, with electricity but no running water, and the half-bath has a composting toilet. Showers and the full kitchen are back at the main house. For warmth in the shoulder season, there is an electric space heater and the wood stove. The cabin is not available to book during the cold winter months.
