Wilderness On Wheels is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Everyone is welcome to come to WOW and enjoy a day trip or overnight camping. Open Season: May 22nd, 2026

We have a wheelchair accessible boardwalk for hiking, fishing, and a campground in Grant, Colorado.

Wilderness On Wheels opens for the season on Friday, May 22nd. We’re excited to welcome everyone back! This year is also the 40th Anniversary of Wilderness On Wheels creating equal access to nature. Join us for a celebration and our WOW Fest in August. See you then!

This years WOW Fest will be Saturday August 1st, 11:30am - 4:30pm! It is also the 40th Anniversary of Wilderness On Wheels so it will be a BIG 🥳 celebration! 🥳 There will be live music 🎵, raffle prizes, free lunch, outdoor games, Kona Ice (donated by Broadways Shot Spot) and more! Are you coming?

We have a wheelchair accessible pond for fishing that we stock regularly with rainbow trout. We also provide basic fishing supplies for guests who need it. Unfortunately, our fishing bin was lent out last season and not returned. Please help us restock so people can enjoy a fun fishing season this year! April is National Volunteer Month! We so appreciate all of the volunteers that help out at Wilderness On Wheels to keep our facility open and accessible. Thanks to you, we are able to play a huge role in making nature more accessible for everyone! One of the projects we need volunteers to work on is sanding and painting the benches along the boardwalk and also picnic tables. Please reach out if this volunteer project sounds like something you would want to work on!

Starting May 1st, the rates for overnight stays will be increasing. Wilderness On Wheels is a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has been providing equal access to nature since 1986. As you can imagine, our operating and boardwalk maintenance costs have continued to rise over the years.

Wilderness On Wheels is dedicated to providing accessible nature experiences for people with disabilities and their families. If you are a person with a disability, (or family/caregiver) and the overnight stay rates are a financial barrier for you - please contact us for our sliding scale rates! We look forward to seeing everyone for the 2026 season and the 40th Anniversary of Wilderness On Wheels.
