****First Dusting****

The higher peaks around the Tahoe Basin had their first dusting of snow last night. Below is the we**am from Mt. Rose this morning.

Cool air is in place from the trough and associated low that dropped down from the north over the weekend. Highs today in the low 60s will be 10+ degrees below the seasonal average. Average high temperature in Grass Valley today is 74 degrees. Overnight lows tonight will be in the low 40s. A warming trend begins tomorrow as the low moves to the east and high pressure begins to build in. Upper 60s on Tuesday and low 70s by Wednesday. We will then surge into above average temps by Thursday with highs in the low 80s Thursday and Friday. Sunny through the period. We may see some light north winds later this week with elevated fire conditions. Not expecting a Red Flag Warning for the foothills, but we’ll be keeping an eye on that.

Next weekend looks sunny and warm with highs in the upper 70s.

Forecast models are hinting at a classic cold front dropping down out of the Northwest around Monday/Tuesday which could bring some soaking rain to the region. Still 7 days out so confidence is low, but we’ll take a look at that again on my post this Wednesday.
