The first week of the 2026 moose hunt is in the books. Congratulations to Edgar and Tammy who took a beautiful bull in zone 18 with one of our guides, Kirk Small. Zone 18 can be a tough zone for the early week, but constant scouting and knowledge of the area proved to be the ticket to this successful hunt. With plenty of bulls on camera, Kirk was able to put his clients on 2 shooters by Wednesday afternoon. Congratulations to you guys! I managed to pull a tag for zone 6 for this past week. This was a great week spent with Jamie Brown and Denis Coutts. We were fortunate enough to be able to target a specific bull earlier in the week and work him for 3 days before pulling him out. Putting in the time to properly scout and having knowledge of the areas you are hunting is extremely important. I even was able to bring my dad on one of the scouting trips to zone 6 the week before. We had a blast and saw plenty of moose. So many people take for granted that moose are everywhere and like shooting fish in a barrel. Not anymore! Sure hunters take good bulls by driving around and getting lucky. For us it's the thrill of walking through the woods between cuts and swamps and calling. Knowing if you get one down you're looking at a quarter job. It's locating that fresh wallow and figuring out his travel pattern and setting up on it for 3 days. You create your success. If you're still able to get your boots on the ground do it and enjoy every step of it! If not there is still plenty of spots just off the beaten path you can get into to to increase your odds of success.
