We are proud to announce that Karel is our third 2026 employee spotlight recipient!
Hamilton-Turner Inn recently welcomed a guest who relied on a mobility chair during their stay in our first-floor Carriage House room. As many know, our historic property wasn’t naturally designed with accessibility in mind, which can sometimes present challenges. The morning after their arrival, the guest shared with our front desk that his wife was having difficulty navigating the threshold at the main entrance with her chair. When Karel heard about this, he immediately saw an opportunity to make a difference. Rather than settling for a temporary workaround, he headed to Home Depot, gathered materials, and personally built a custom ramp tailored to their needs.
Thanks to Karel’s quick thinking and hands-on solution, the guest was able to move in and out comfortably and independently for the remainder of their stay.
This moment is a perfect reflection of our core value of being Innovative. Innovation isn’t always about large-scale changes or high-tech solutions. It is about creatively solving problems, thinking beyond limitations, and taking action to improve the guest experience in meaningful ways. Karel recognized a barrier and transformed it into an opportunity to deliver exceptional service.
