On Saturday morning we honored our first responders with a “clap out” as many of the departments were finally headed home as the forest fires were over 80% contained 🌲🔥

By Saturday night, we calling them all to come back as the winds kicked up and the fire was reignited
Without hesitation, they all returned and spent overnight battling the fires as they spread closer to the village 🚒

The US Army was dispatched and “Smoke Jumpers” from Montana/Colorado arrived in addition to support from State helicopters - all dumping thousands and thousands of gallons of water from the lake to get this new fire contained

We are happy to report that they did a phenomenal job and it’s expected we will finally receive some rain this week to help completely contain the fire to 100%

Everyone at the Waterstone Inn is grateful to all our First Responders for keeping Greenwood Lake safe, for our local businesses for stepping up and feeding and taking care of all the First Responders (many of whom are volunteers) and for all our fellow “Lakers” who once again showed what makes this place so special as you all rallied to help in whatever way you could

The Mulcahy Family would like to thank everyone for your calls, texts and messages as this forest fire is making the news across the USA

While the Waterstone Inn isn’t near the fires that are burning right now, we are all terribly saddened to see our beloved protected forest land engulfed in flames right now 🌲🔥 and you all know how much this family loves Greenwood Lake - and love sharing our community with you when you stay with us

We would be remiss if we didn’t publicly thank our local volunteer fire department, all the first responders and the abundance of support that our sleepy little village is getting from other fire departments, the DEC, the NYS Parks Department and the Federal government - from sending fire trucks, volunteers and helicopters to help contain this forest fire 🚁🚒🔥

Grateful to our local restaurants and residents who have rallied to feed 400+ first responders 🚒 every day, for every meal.
Once again showing the world what truly makes this village so special

We just had a last minute cancellation for our one bedroom studio cottage for Friday and Saturday nights (2 night minimum)

Don’t forget this weekend is the Greenwood Lake Centennial Weekend

Friday is the Laker Reunion at the Elks and Saturday morning begins with a parade followed by Family Fun Day
and Sunday the time capsule will be opened followed by an old-time baseball game

Cove Castle will have music during the weekend

Greenwood Lake Chamber of Commerce has their annual Street Fair on Saturday, June 8th from 11am-5pm

Lakeside Farmers Market at Greenwood Lake has their opening day on Saturday, June 8th frim 9am to 5pm

Warwick Valley Winery and Distillery is hosting the 2nd Annual Pollinator Music Festival on Sunday, June 9th from 12-5pm

As many of you are aware, Greenwood Lake had a terrible storm yesterday morning that caused damage to homes and cars with numerous trees and wires down

While we here at the Waterstone Inn didn’t have a lot of damage, many of our neighbors, family and friends suffered from the aftermath of the “microburst” that swept throughout the village 🌪️

We wanted to take a moment to thank all our First Responders and those residents who rallied to help their fellow neighbors

Greenwood Lake is a special little Village with the biggest heart ♥️

Our thoughts and prayers are with our family, friends and past guests of the Waterstone Inn who endured Hurricane Ian
May they all continue to stay safe while they rebuild from this devastating hurricane
