The National Park Service was created on August 25, 1916, to "preserve unimpaired the natural and cultural resources and values of the National Park System for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations." Over the hundred plus years, we've grown into more than 400 national parks and many programs that reach communities around the country—and even the world!

🌊Perdido Key Public Access Lifeguard Coverage Update: Pensacola Beach Lifeguards will conclude coverage at Perdido Key Public Access #2 for the season on Tuesday, Aug. 11, as the 2026-2027 school year resumes this week for local schools.

🛟We will continue to provide service at Johnson Beach on Perdido Key until Labor Day, as staffing allows. Lifeguard towers on Pensacola Beach will continue to be staffed through the end of October.

Pensacola peeps! 🪨🎨🖌️

Kick off the school year with creativity, positivity, and a little Pensacola spirit this Friday, 10:00 a.m., at the Pensacola Visitor Information Center.

"Pensacola Rocks" is a popular community kindness movement where residents paint small stones with colorful art, positive messages, or local symbols and hide them around Pensacola for strangers to find.

Participants of all ages are invited to paint colorful rocks featuring encouraging messages, cheerful artwork, and inspirational words. Guests can keep their creations or hide them around the community to spread kindness and brighten someone's day.
