Hey all- I copied from the fort Morgan locals page with some updates -
****mandatory non resident evacuation being enforced.

IMPORTANT HURRICANE UPDATE | GULF SHORES & FORT MORGAN

I spoke directly with Gulf Shores Mayor Robert Craft regarding the approaching storm and wanted to share the latest information.

MANDATORY EVACUATION

Mayor Craft confirmed officials have made the decision to issue a mandatory evacuation for nonresidents. The official announcement is expected to be posted later today.

BRIDGE CLOSURES

Once sustained winds reach 45 mph, bridge traffic will be stopped, regardless of the time of day. Please do not wait until the last minute to leave.

FORT MORGAN ELECTRICITY

At this time, there are no plans for a proactive shutdown of electrical service to Fort Morgan. However, storm conditions could still result in power outages.

FORT MORGAN GAS

GAS WILL BE TURNED OFF TO THE ISLAND TOMORROW. So plan accordingly.

FORT MORGAN WATER SERVICE

The water tower located at The Beach Club requires a minimum water level to maintain its structural stability.

If water levels fall below that critical threshold, whether due to excessive water usage or a water main break, water service may need to be shut off as a safety precaution.

PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY

Conditions can change quickly as the storm approaches. We strongly encourage everyone to take evacuation instructions seriously, make necessary preparations, and prioritize their safety.

When the Storm Comes, Who’s Looking Out for Those Who Can’t Leave on Their Own?

With a hurricane approaching, we’re all thinking about preparing our homes, stocking up on supplies, and making evacuation plans.

But my thoughts keep going to the people and animals who can’t simply pack up and leave.

The nursing home resident whose family lives hundreds of miles away. The older neighbor living alone. The person who depends on oxygen. The animals in shelters. The pets whose owners have no way to evacuate them.

After nearly three decades in senior care, I know how complicated emergency planning can be for vulnerable people. And as someone who loves animals, I can’t help but think about those who depend entirely on us.

I wrote something a little different for Salty & Happy. Not another hurricane supply checklist, but a reminder to look beyond our own front doors.

I’d love for you to read it, share it, and most importantly, check on someone who might need a little help.

Sometimes the smallest act of kindness makes the biggest difference.

Dogs arrive at the Gulf Coast with the confidence of a lifeguard and the judgment of someone who has never paid a vet bill.

They’ll drink the ocean, investigate a jellyfish, sprint across scorching sand and attempt to make friends with wildlife that has no interest in being friends.

So naturally, why not write a blog!
