As of this morning, we have significantly increased our base pricing on Airbnb to purposefully drive traffic away from there. We got an email from them early this morning with absolutely ridiculous new “rules” for hosts that put our property at real risk for misuse and damage (even possible human trafficking) and are unfair to property owners. Their insane increase of fees (from 8% to 15.5% for us) and these new rules have made listing with them a complete nightmare. Unfortunately, some of their newest proposed rules would also have a significant impact on how I communicate with guests (amongst other craziness). If you have stayed at The Lilly Pad, you know that the ability to communicate with our guests effectively and efficiently is something that is completely essential to how I operate and enables me to provide the personalized experience our guests deserve. We want to be your home away from home! Unless they backtrack on this, I will ultimately deactivate my account there after some unfinished business reaches completion. If we continue to take bookings with all of the new rules in place, I fear it would eventually negatively impact the overall guest experience for everyone and have financial impacts across the board. Our goal has always been to provide the absolute best vacation experience for our guests and we aren’t going to let a greedy booking platform get in the way of that. If you previously found us through Airbnb...we welcome you to book your next stay direct! As always...word of mouth is the best form of advertisement for us.
