๐Ÿฉต Why We Donโ€™t Share Nest Locations or Expected Hatch Dates ๐Ÿข

We know everyone gets excited about sea turtle nests and hatchlingsโ€”we do too! But one of the best ways to protect them is by not publicly sharing nest locations or expected hatch dates.

Unfortunately, this information can increase disturbance, create safety concerns, and even make nests more vulnerable to people with harmful intentions. Hatchlings need a quiet, dark beach to have the best chance of safely reaching the Gulf.

Our trained, permitted volunteers monitor nests every day and are there when itโ€™s time for a hatch. If youโ€™re ever lucky enough to witness a sea turtle nest hatching, youโ€™re experiencing something truly special. ๐Ÿข๐Ÿ’š Please help give these tiny hatchlings the best chance of reaching the Gulf by staying quiet, avoiding flashlights and flash photography, and following the instructions of our trained volunteers. Every request we make is for the safety and success of the hatchlings. Take it all in and enjoy the incredible moment.
Thank you for helping us keep Alabamaโ€™s sea turtles safe by respecting their privacy. Together, we can give every hatchling the best possible start. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿข

๐”๐๐ƒ๐€๐“๐„ @ 4:22๐ฉ๐ฆ: Fat Albert is taxiing on the runway at Cocoa Beach, FL. (They're leaving a little earlier than I expected.)

Assuming the Blue Angels have leftโ€ฆ The flight is just under an hour for the Blue Angels once theyโ€™re airborne.

If we get a Beach Buzz today, it should happen within the hour.

๐—ข๐—•๐—” ๐—•๐—น๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—”๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜: The Blue Angels will be flying home today from their air show in Cocoa Beach, FL. We should see them in our area between 5:30 and 6:30 pm. We will update this post if we receive any additional information. Once the Blues are in the area, watch the comments on this post for updates on sighting locations.

As always, we never know their flight plan, whether they'll give us a Beach Buzz, or, if they do, which beaches theyโ€™ll buzz. Two weeks ago, they made their final turn just south of Turquoise Place Condos. Occasionally, they will Buzz the Beaches all the way to Gulf Shores, but that has been very rare lately. We just have to wait and see.

Thanks to everyone who's out watching for the Blue Angels from Navarre and Pensacola Beach for posting updates here in the comments when you see them coming. It really helps.

The beach warning flag system is in place for your safety. Before entering the Gulf, observe and obey the flag system.
