Hi Lucky Birds!

We're still assessing potential damage at Gulf Place following Hurricane Isaias. Unfortunately, we're still without power, which means no elevators, AC, or pool pumps.

We're hopeful power will be restored tomorrow so we can finish our safety and maintenance inspections.

We're hoping to welcome guests back beginning Wednesday, October 14th, provided there is no major damage and the building is safe.

We know everyone is eager for updates, and we truly appreciate your patience as we work to get everything back up and running!

In the meantime, here's a little post-storm beach beauty for you! City of Gulf Shores - Municipal Government is hard at work getting our beautiful beaches ready for your return.

We can't wait to welcome you back to the sunshine, salty air, and sugar-white sand we all love so much!

Good morning, Lucky Birds!

We are incredibly grateful that our area was spared the full impact of Hurricane Isaias!

While the worst of the storm has passed, we still have work to do. Our team will be conducting thorough inspections of all Lucky Bird properties today and tomorrow to ensure everything is safe and ready to welcome guests back.

At Gulf Place, the elevators remain out of service, and power has not yet been fully restored throughout the building.

We appreciate everyoneโ€™s patience and understanding as we work through the aftermath of the storm. The safety of our guests and staff remains our top priority.

Weโ€™ll share another update as soon as we have more information.

Stay safe, Lucky Birds!

We are incredibly grateful for our amazing housekeeping and maintenance teams, who have worked tirelessly to get our properties storm-ready in less than 36- hours. True teamwork!!

We also want to send a HUGE thank you and an even bigger hug to our wonderful guests. Your patience, kindness, and understanding as we navigated some difficult decisions have meant more to us than you know.

In anticipation of the expected impacts from Tropical Storm Isaias, the cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are encouraging all nonโ€‘residents, and residents living in low-lying, flood prone areas to voluntarily evacuate. Current forecasts call for Isaias to be a significant hurricane when it reaches the coast bringing hazardous conditions including high winds, storm surge, flooding, and disruptions to essential services that could significantly impact access to public safety and critical utility systems.

City officials urge all individuals who are not permanent residents to leave the area immediately and relocate to a safer location. Departing now will help reduce congestion, support emergency operations, and ensure the safety of those who may be most vulnerable during the storm.

โ€œOur first responsibility is to safeguard lives and ensure that emergency services and utility crews can operate effectively as conditions worsen,โ€ said Mayor Robert Craft. โ€œWe strongly urge all visitors to take this seriously and move to safer accommodations without delay.โ€

โ€œWe haven't had a voluntary evacuation in a long time, so we don't take it lightly,โ€ Mayor Tony Kennon said. "Please help us by leaving the Islands so that we do what needs to be done.โ€

Each City will continue to monitor the stormโ€™s track and intensity and will provide additional public updates as conditions evolve. Residents and visitors are asked to follow official City communication channels for the latest information and instructions.

Please note that the Annual National Shrimp Festival has been canceled due to storm activity.

We are sending out emails to all of our current and future guests arriving within next few days within the next half hour.

Isaias causes cancellation of Shrimp Festival. Safety of visitors, vendors and volunteers top priority for organizers.

The 53rd Annual National Shrimp Festival has been cancelled. The cancellation is a direct result of Tropical Storm Isaias, which forecasters predict will develop into a Category 2 hurricane before making landfall along the northern gulf coast.

โ€œI met early this morning with the City of Gulf Shores Emergency Management officials,โ€ Coastal Alabama Business Chamber President Greg Alexander said. The Chamber is the presenter of the festival. โ€œWe made every attempt to conduct the festival this year, but due to the projection of high winds, heavy surf and rain over the weekend, it really left us no choice but to cancel this yearโ€™s event," Alexander said.

He also said that the swift changes in overnight predictors cemented the decision. โ€œWe said yesterday that we would wait until todayโ€™s forecasts and predictions were in to make a final decision. After the 4 a.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center, it left us no choice but to cancel the event,โ€ Alexander said.

Baldwin County sent out a release this morning that outlined the key points with Isaias: โ€ข Isaias is likely to be a significant hurricane at landfall. Confidence is increasing for major impacts to coastal Alabama and northwest Florida.
โ€ข Earliest reasonable arrival of tropical storm force winds: Friday morning and afternoon, with the most likely onset Friday evening.
โ€ข Hurricane and Storm Surge Watches: Expected to be issued later today.
โ€ข Major concerns: High winds, high surf, rip currents, storm surge, flash flooding, and tornadoes. Heavy rainfall remains a concern, especially after last weekendโ€™s flooding.

โ€œWe were really looking forward to a great weekend with shrimp, music, hundreds of vendors and thousands of visitors,โ€ Shrimp Festival Chairman Rob Barnas said. โ€œBut with Isaias predicted to make landfall in our immediate area, the safety of each of these volunteers, visitors and vendors was our top priority.โ€

Further information will be posted as on the Festivalโ€™s Social Media pages and myshrimpfest.com.
