🌀 Tropical Storm Bertha Update – Baldwin County EMA

As of this morning, Tropical Storm Bertha is located about 130 miles south‑southeast of Pensacola and moving northwest at 5 mph with winds around 50 mph. Bertha is struggling to organize, but coastal conditions will worsen over the next 24 hours as the center makes a close pass south of our coastline tomorrow.

Key Points:
• Tropical Storm Warning for coastal Alabama; Tropical Storm Watch for coastal NW Florida.
• Storm Surge Watch remains in effect for coastal Alabama (including southern Mobile Bay) - surge potential 2–4 ft; 1–2 ft possible along the western FL Panhandle.
• High risk of life‑threatening rip currents through at least Thursday night.
• High Surf Warning this afternoon through Wednesday night — breaking waves 8–11 ft.
• Outer rainbands may bring brief heavy rain and tropical‑storm‑force winds, mainly near the coast.
• Forecast track could still shift, causing minor changes in impacts.
