On May 14th, Chelsea’s husband, Gavin, had a life threatening asthma attack. He was intubated, sedated and paralyzed for 7 days in the ICU at Memorial. After quite a few ups and downs, he spent an additional 3 days in ICU Recovery. Chelsea has spent every day with him and was unable to work during this time. Gavin still has a long road to recovery with close follow ups to prevent this from happening again. Gavin is a loving husband, father and friend. He would do anything for anyone, even a stranger.
Right now the cause is unknown, and the trigger has to be found. Gavin’s asthma has progressively gotten worse since his separation with the Navy. Gavin currently works in a warehouse with lots of potential for setting off his asthma so we are hoping to keep him home for the time being until we can maintain his asthma and get him stabilized. The doctors informed us this was an extreme case and each “attack” scars his lungs. At 25 years old we can’t have more of these.
