Does this question leave you feeling worried that you are too late to make plans? It shouldn’t!

β€œ10 Things to know and watch for when viewing an Eclipse. (Full viewing of an eclipse takes hours.)
1. Protect your eyes. Damage to the eye "burning" is painless and can't be reversed. Use eclipse glasses, welding helmets, and home made viewers.
2. Watch for the shadow of the moon to approach your viewing location. (Elevation and wide open spaces are helpful.) It can be fun to see who sees the shadow first. May want to make distance estimates on visible landmarks when scoping out locations. Get to your location early.
3. Partial eclipse begins. Moon begins to pass in front of the sun. With eye protection the sun begins to become a cresent.
4. Wildlife will change behaviors. Insects and animals become still and quiet. Pay attentiont to changes in behavior of your pets and livestock. (Soundscapes is doing a study about this and setting up recording locations along the path of totally.)
5. Temperature will drop as solar radiation is blocked. Light cloud cover should disappear due to this temperature drop. As the moon recedes both clouds and Temps will rebound. (See if you have a slight shiver or goosebumps.)
6. Bailey's Beads - Right before totality watch for these bright beams of light that look like a necklace. Formed due to the mountains and valleys on the moons surface.
7. Diamond Ring - Final beam of intense light before totally. (This is the image all photographers are trying to catch.) After this it's safe to look around and enjoy the darkness totality.
8. Watch for all of these things in reverse as the moon recedes.
9. Watch for both scientific and commercial aircraft to passover.
10. How long/far into the distance can you view the shadow of the moon as it races across the landscape. (This is the part people rush.) Be aware that others are still enjoying the event. You leaving early may ruin others photos. Be respectful of those around you.”
