We’re excited to share “Half Moon Blooms” by ,
chair of the studio art program at Foothill College, who is well known for her paintings of roses. When she was invited to participate in this upcoming group exhibition featuring friends of the gallery, she was inspired by  on
Highway 92, and reached out to propose a collaboration. Owner Stephanie Alston (who just expanded to the corner of Main/Miramontes in historic downtown Half
Moon Bay), connected her with , Moss Beach resident and lead floral designer at HMF&G. Lisa Berlin-Solberg is known for her exhibits at the San Francisco Fine Arts Museums’ and  Bouquets to Art, and now serves as an auxiliary co-chair for that auspicious event. Lisa and Hilary chose the flowers and designed the pictured bouquet together. We are thrilled with the result! And there is a second “sister” painting that is not yet finished but also will be in our exhibition. “Half Moon Blooms” is perfect for your living room, breakfast nook, bedroom, or dressing room.

Save the date! Opening next month is a remarkable collection by Sandra Keely: Excavated Color.

For years, worked primarily in oils, but a recent artistic evolution has led her to a strikingly tactile process: carving into acrylic paint. Each piece begins with more than one hundred layers of color meticulously applied to birch wood. Once the surface has been built up, she uses carving tools to incise deep, expressive designs. The resulting works reveal a dynamic interplay of color, texture, and depth—each groove exposing unexpected combinations embedded within the layered paint.

Keely worked as a professional character animator in commercial studios during a period when the industry still relied heavily on the hand of the artist. She began as a cel painter on the assembly line, learning her trade on the job through employee art classes such as live model drawing, and later continued her training through night courses in fine art to advance her skills. Keely went on to teach animation at Collins College in Tempe, Arizona, offering instruction in animation fundamentals, sketching, drawing, and portfolio development.

Keely received her BFA in museum studies from Arizona State University. She lives and works in Redwood City.

.art Linda Hirschhorn Pouliot’s paintings capture quiet mornings, long afternoons, and the intimacy of a private retreat personalized with treasured objets d’art.

Color is central to her language. Bright, saturated hues carry a quiet optimism, bathing interiors and landscapes in the warm, clear, glowing light that California is known for.
Her work is full of affection for the small geometries of lived spaces. She distills objects to their essential forms by reducing them to simplified shapes. Shadows flatten into blocks, tabletops tilt, and perspectives gently warp. A kettle, a stool, a vase of roses—each becomes a character. Her compositions are crisp and graphic, while simultaneously abstracted as if from a remembered dream.

Pouliot received her BFA cm laude in fine art from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She lives and works in Portola Valley. Pouliot will have her first solo show with in summer 2027. “Nurseryman’s Row, Old San Mateo Road” was selected to be part of our summer collection celebrating Half Moon Bay’s harvest industries, opening July 25, 2026.
