Nora's Place

Nora's Place This Airbnb (previously Scandinavia Home) is an entire home, about 1300 sq feet, on the upper level There is one bathroom and it has a stand up shower.

Nora’s Place is an entire home about 1300 sq feet, on the upper level of an historic bank and jewelry store building. The ground level is a Bully Brew coffee shop (think caramel rolls and espresso drinks). The home has much of the character of the original 100+ year old building, but with modern upgrades. The spacious space has a private bedroom (with a balcony), a second private bedroom with a f

uton,a third bedroom with a twin bed & a queen bed and a living room with fireplace. Two bedroom spaces have queen size beds and the the living space has a huge sectional. There is a dining room, kitchen and bathroom. The home is on the second floor of this historic bank building that was also home to two jewelry stores from the glory days of Hallock. There is a stairway on the outside of the building... about 25 stairs up, to a private deck and the entrance. It is worth the work out going up the stairs! Guests will have access to the entire space, including full kitchen, bathroom, dining room, laundry, foyer, private deck, balcony and the bedrooms mentioned above. The property is located downtown Hallock on what we call Main Street, although the real name is 2nd Street. We are happy to answer questions about the town or activities nearby. Nearby are regional banks, insurance offices, the local newspaper office, an optometrist office, hair salons, a hardware store and pharmacy. Below the home is Bully Brew Coffee where you will find fresh Roasted coffee and breakfast and lunch sandwiches. A great place to enjoy Coffee and conversation. Directly across the street is Revelation Ale, a craft brewery that is new and very successful, operating out of a former gas station. Next door to a wine bar.. Last Chance. A few miles out of town is Far North Spirits, the northernmost distillery in the contiguous United States. Far North is one of a handful of authentic field-to-glass estate producers of small-batch, craft-distilled spirits, including gin, vodka, whiskey and Nordic rum. There is a municipal swimming pool in Hallock, a library, two parks, as well as a 9 hole golf course along the Two River. Lake Bronson State Park is about 10 miles east of Hallock, and the international border with Canada is 20 miles to the north. Hallock is surrounded by abundant natural resources and wildlife habitat. The City of Hallock was named after Charles Hallock, a well-known New York naturalist and writer, who wrote about Hallock’s birds, tall grass, flora and wildlife and referred to Hallock as “a Sportsman’s Paradise.” Hallock is home to a broad array of birds, as we are located in a unique intersection between two major migratory flyways. The Norway Dunes -- sand dunes -- are located in Norway Township in eastern Kittson County and are managed by The Nature Conservancy. This is a true wilderness where you can see Blazing Stars, wild mushrooms, wood lilies, bergamot, wild berries and even black bears. There is no public transportation available. Everyone in Hallock drives, and you are likely to see the locals driving their golf carts and other similar vehicles around town, as well as their cars and pickup trucks. Most things are within walking distance. You may be able to rent a vehicle from C&M Ford if need be. Parking is available on the street in front of the building. Feel free to bring your bike! When you request a booking, please provide sufficient information re: your connection to Hallock and the purpose of your visit to our community so that we can approve your reservation more quickly. We like to have a sense of our renters before we approve reservations. This will save back and forth communication and since our listing is new, we want to make sure we have good information to ensure your experience with us is a good one. We provide coffee and tea.

Our Story

the Scandinavia is an entire apartment, about 1300 sqare feet, on the upper level of an historic bank and jewelry store building. The ground level is a creative coffee shop (think pour over coffee and espresso drinks). The apartment has much of the character of the original 100+ year old building, but with modern upgrades. The spacious apartment has one completely private bedroom (with a balcony), a second semi private bedroom off the kitchen, and a living room with fireplace. All 3 spaces have queen size beds (the bed in the living room is a new pull out sofa). There is also a small dressing room off the master bedroom with a twin bed. There is a dining room, kitchen and bathroom. The apartment is on the second floor of this historic bank building that was also home to two jewelry stores from the glory days of Hallock. There is a stairway on the outside of the building... about 25 stairs up, to a private deck and the entrance.
