I need to share some sad news! 😥

Chef Chucks dog (Chloe) passed away today.10/7/2026

Many of our guest are repeat customers and friends. Some of you may have stayed with us one time. Almost all our customers have had the chance to meet Chloe who was loved by all who met her. ❤️

She was an 8 year old Puggle. She was Chucks best friend, loyal to a fault, friend to all guest, loved food beyond normal dogs, clean upper of all scraps left in the campground, she hid any ham bone she could get to save for later, begger to anyone who would feel sorry for her and throw her a treat, she had an attitude which included rolling her eyes at you if you scolded her.

Her nick name was (fat potato or bread loaf) she would come to both names. Usually with a lopsided look.

To anyone who feels led to send Chuck a message. (He is NOT on Facebook) you can send him a private (text only) 423-957-6400

Any messages post on Black Bear will be shared with Chuck.

Here's an update on Black Bear Resorts animal activity.

A guest magically caught Dr. Hossenphefer in the middle of a huge yawn. He is not angry however he does a have serious resting grouchy face. He maybe a little annoyed when we ask him to spend to much time hugging him.

The newest members of out BBR family (Kitties) were dumped up on the Dennis Cove Road mountain area. They somehow made it to Black Bear and now have made themselves at home.

The positive side is they are great office helpers and love pushing paperwork.

The downside is that they are super lovable, needy, over friendly and follow everyone throughout the campground like little kids.

Be aware they demand hugs, cuddles treats and naps all day long.

The kitties and Dr. Hossenphefer and Chloe (Chucks dog) all get along like a crazy, weird little family. I guess they fit right in here at Black Bear Resort.

The Bear in the last picture has been passing thru looking for garbage. We nicely ask him to leave by using an air horn and he usually gets the hint.
