Looking for a great meal while staying with us? 🚗🍽️

If you’re staying at 1878 RiverRun and have a car, Proof on Washington in Berkeley Springs is one of our favorite spots for lunch, dinner, or drinks after a day on the trail.

The food never disappoints… we’ve enjoyed just about everything on the menu. My personal favorite is the bourbon salmon. It comes with collard greens, which are delicious, but I usually swap it for the mashed potatoes instead. You really can’t go wrong either way! 😋

Whether you’re exploring Berkeley Springs or simply looking for a great local meal, this is definitely a place worth visiting.

A local favorite that keeps us coming back. 🍷✨

From canal paths to mountain peaks. 🚴‍♂️⛰️

Staying at 1878 RiverRun for a few days? If you have a car, one of our favorite nearby adventures is Cacapon Resort State Park, just about 25 minutes away. With breathtaking overlooks, hiking trails, a beautiful lake, and mountain biking opportunities, it’s the perfect way to add another adventure to your stay.

Spend one day riding the C&O Towpath, then take a short drive into the mountains to experience some of the best scenery our region has to offer. And if mountain biking is your thing, don’t forget to bring your bike. There are trails waiting to be explored.

Sometimes the best getaways combine quiet trails, mountain views, and a little bit of everything.

⚽🚴 Every great journey starts with a first mile.

Tonight, Team USA takes the field in their 2026 World Cup opener at 9 PM, while cyclists from around the world continue their own journeys along the C&O Canal and Western Maryland Rail Trail.

Whether by bike or by ball, adventure has a way of bringing people together and reminding us that the journey is just as important as the destination.

Beginning the evening of July 9, a two-mile segment of the Great Allegheny Passage between the Whitaker Flyover (approximately mile marker 136) and the Port Perry Flyover (approximately mile marker 138) will be temporarily closed so that professional geotechnical contractors deployed by the Regional Trail Corporation can perform preventative rock scaling work along a steep hillside underneath Kennywood Park and PA-837 that is susceptible to rockfall, downed trees and landslides. This segment of the GAP will remain closed until August 6. There is no detour.

The Great Allegheny Passage Conservancy has arranged for a licensed shuttle service to provide transportation for GAP travelers (including bicyclists and their bicycles) between the official GAP-branded trail access area in Duquesne and Homestead, starting on the morning of July 10. The service will operate from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, seven days a week, until the rock scaling project is complete. The shuttle fee is $20/person. The shuttle will be first-come, first-served, but may deviate in order to accommodate families traveling together. 🚴‍♂️ Cycling Fact of the Day 🚴‍♀️

You don’t have to ride hundreds of miles to see real health benefits. A 2026 study found that even modest daily cycling can improve cardiovascular recovery, reduce body fat, and increase overall fitness levels.

Every ride counts—whether you’re riding across the country or just enjoying a few miles along the trail.
