A month or so ago, we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to dive into a treasure trove of vintage Blisswood photos with our good friends and neighbors, Bonnie and Dell. Bonnie, originally Bliss (cutest name in the world, by the way!), also happens to be the granddaughter of Chauncey and May and an amazing Blisswood historian!
We spent the better part of that afternoon sifting through the memories and peering into the past while Bonnie shared stories from the early years at Blisswood. It was the kind of day where a cup of coffee turned into a glass of wine and time disappeared as we transported ourselves back to the early and mid-1900s.
It’s almost impossible to answer the question, “What do you love most about Blisswood?” Some days I’m convinced it’s the architecture, while other days it’s without a doubt the sunset view over Lake Michigan. But on this day, it was the history. The memories that have been made here and passed down through generations of family members and guests who grace the property year after year. That’s the best part.
Since Christmastime is ideal for reveling in nostalgia and embracing awe, I’m sharing these vintage gems so you can do the same.
Merry Christmas from beautiful Blisswood circa 1939 ❤️
