From the owner of Grace On The Lake, i would like to provide factual information regarding what actually occurred today with the fire on one of our islands.
One of our privately owned islands was being used for camping by individuals unknown to us, which has always been okay with us. Unfortunately, a campfire appears to have been left unattended and/or was not properly extinguished, resulting in the damage shown in the prior post.
As soon as we were made aware of the situation, I personally went out to the island to assess the fire and immediately contacted local fire departments for assistance. We have since spoken directly with local fire officials and a state forester regarding the incident and the damage. This was not the result of clearing, landscaping, or work being performed by Grace On The Lake.
We have always allowed lake-goers and local families to respectfully access, enjoy, and camp on our islands. We have never had an issue with sharing this beautiful part of the lake with the community. Unfortunately, situations like this are exactly why we are now considering posting the islands and restricting public access moving forward.
We understand people may have concerns when they see something like this, but we respectfully ask that the facts be known before publicly making accusations about our property or our business.
