It's a beautiful Saturday in Harper's Ferry, perfect day to bake chocolate cake with a side of chocolate sauce for our lucky guests. This is my last season as innkeeper at ledge house B&B so I definitely want to leave all our upcoming guests with good memories of a wonderful stay, irish hospitality at its best. It's been a pleasure these past five years, I've met the most interesting people along the way and made friends out of many. If your in town today I highly recommend lunch or dinner at the Rabbit Hole it closes at 9pm, or The White Horse tavern which is just over the hill on 340, they have live music today and tomorrow and serve dinner up until 10pm. Live music 🎶 at The Barn of Harper's Ferry kicks off at 8pm until 10pm ( no kitchen, but you can order through Uber Eats) Kelly's farm kitchen, The Anvil and Snallygasters are close by. So it's nice to be able to walk from one to the other and leave your vehicle parked up, its wise to remember that restaurants in town are closed by 9pm at latest on weekends. If your looking to party into the early hrs. I recommend an evening at Hollywood Casino or Charles town racecourse which is just 5miles outside of town, use your Uber app for a safe ride home. Harper's Ferry outdoors has so much to offer during daylight hrs. Another beautiful weekend ahead in Historic Harper's Ferry with lots of local events lined up. Right on the door step of the Barn is 5☆ Kelly Farm kitchen plus its neighbor the newly revamped Snallygasters who recently reinvented itself from General store to Wine & Cocktail bar. The Anvil restaurant has live music on Friday night , don't forget to make a reservation if you plan to dine at The Anvil. Please remember that Harper's Ferry is a small unique town. No corporate business here, every place is owned and operated by local family's who are still struggling to find staff and get above the pitfalls that Covid created, be patient and kind, hospitality is hard work and we are all doing the Very best we can because we love what we do. If the restaurant wait is to long. Consider going to one of the award winning town bakeries. Bolivar breads on upper Washington Street and Battleground bakery on the High street in lower town, grab a sandwich and a soda, enjoy a picnic in these great outdoors. Another 5 ☆ Star review for service at ledge house B&B. We love what we do. Annie and staff truly went out of their way to help my sisters and me (spread around the country) plan a nice get away for our uncle's wedding.
They were so nice to work with, and never made us feel as though we were trouble, and my uncles had a great time.

Happy Friday from the porch at Ledge House. Looking ahead for this weekend, I highly recommend The Barn of Harper's Ferry tonight as one of our favorite cowboys, retired Marine Mark Cullinane takes the stage at 8pm for a hoedown , Cowboys & Cowgirls get out yer plaid and Stetson and enjoy a fun evening. Dinner plans are best served at The Rabbit Hole on high street, open to 9pm on weekends. The Anvil also opened until 9pm requires a reservation but dishes up live music with dinner on Friday nights. You can enjoy an amazing vegan dinner from Kelly Farm kitchen and grab that to go with you to the Barn. Snallygasters has a full cocktail bar now installed, plus wine tastings and amazingly tasty food offerings. Check that out. It's directly next to Kelly Farm and the Barn. This week the National Park service celebrated World Rangers day. so it's not to late to thank historic Harper's Ferry Rangers when you see them, they do an amazing job and know every stick and turn of the area and the history. Happy World rangers day, especially to our Harper's Ferry WV Rangers. I always tell our guests. Another opportunity to enjoy a weekend in Historic Harper's Ferry as we kick start the Towns Welcome to the many tourists who visit. So much to see and do. Hiking and river sports definitely lead the way of summer adventures. Maryland heights is quite the climb but its reward is the view from the top. When your done with all the outdoor adventures obviously the hunger calls and the local restaurants definitely know how to take good care of that. Check out award winning hotdogs at the Country Cafe https://www.facebook.com/Country-Cafe-General-Store-136095743106724/they open for breakfast and lunch. Your dinner options are best served at The Anvil restaurant, the Rabbit Hole ( thier cheesesteak sandwich is crazy good) and Snallygasters Cafe and wine bar, amazing food and a great selection of wine. For live music and a great local vibe head to the Barn of Harper's Ferry. We do have some rain in the forecast this weekend so I highly recommend The Escape Rooms on Washington Street indoors fun for all ages. If your a betting person don't forget live horse racing at Charles town racecourse. Whatever you do we know you will enjoy your stay. Happy weekend and stay safe
