Great beach to visit when you stay at Ocean Spray Cottages!

In Downeast Maine, the stunning sand beach at Roque Bluffs State Park gives you a rare chance to spend the day along a sandy stretch of coast in a part of the state better known for rocks and rugged shoreline. The beach curves for about half a mile along Englishman Bay, mixing soft sand with smooth, wave-worn stones and wide views toward the water and offshore islands. It’s a beautiful place to walk the shoreline, look for sea glass, settle into the sand, or simply listen to the waves rolling in. Just across from the ocean is 60-acre Simpson Pond, so you can enjoy saltwater and freshwater in the same visit. Canoes and kayaks can be used on both waters, and kayak rentals are available for Simpson Pond. The park also has a six-mile trail system winding through coastal woods, fields, and old orchard areas, giving you plenty to explore beyond the beach. Simpson Pond is even stocked for fishing, including brook trout in spring and brown trout through much of summer. Between the quiet beach, pond, trails, and wild coastal setting, Roque Bluffs is a beautiful look at the quieter side of Downeast Maine.
