Prominence Homestead's first 2026 Newsletter: Hello Everyone!
We all know that doing too much too fast is the biggest threat to couples that homestead. It can be detrimental to our health and our marriages.
As homesteaders, Dean and I are some of the hardest-working people you will ever meet. Actually, all homesteaders are hard working, willing to try something new while learning from others.
We all have struggled at times to find a balance.
That is exactly where we find ourselves in 2026. Almost burned out from all the holiday travel and work/life balance.
The Cure:
Dean and I have chosen to slow down a bit and take a day to rest weekly.
What brought this on you ask? Honestly, Charlie Kirk's book. Have you read Charlie Kirk's book on keeping the Sabbath Day Holy?
Charlie inspired a new desire for us to take our marriage and our business to the next level. I believe his last book might have actually brought us to our senses!
So, we have closed the Airbnb for the next 30 days to prioritize our marriage, work on healthy recipes, and just breathe.
Instead of dropping our Mediterranean Airbnb and homesteading altogether though, we are just taking a step back and looking at doing the one thing that will make the biggest impact on our lives: Keeping the Sabbath Day Holy at least for the next 30 days.
The hope is that as we do this, it will inspire us to keep the Sabbath Day Holy every weekend.
And on top of that, as with most people, Dean and I want to get healthier in 2026. So, taking the time to rest might just be the cure.
We do want to slowly add back in our new homesteading projects and goals. But, these do often change due to our getting older. We are learning so much about being in our 60's! Like it's okay to pivot!
While we might not know exactly what to do or how, God does. And as a caring Father, we know He would approve of us all celebrating a much needed day of rest!
So, while sustainability is important and we truly do care about wanting to live longer, maybe a day of rest once a week to reflect on God and what's important to us is exactly what God had in mind for His people when He said, "Remember the Sabbath Day and keep it Holy."
Conclusion:
We might enjoy this lifestyle but we must take time to rest, to cultivate our marriages, care for ourselves, and our families.
With that being said, we wish you a wonderful, healthy, and prosperous new year!
Love, From Prominence
