Bristlecone Pine Trees (Pinus longaeva) -

MCRV is nestled just a short ATV ride away from the Bristlecone Pine forest where you will see this rare breed of tree along with an amazing view! Bristlecone Pine trees, known for their ability to reach incredibly old age, are considered to be the oldest living trees in the world. One in particular Bristlecone pine (located in California) called Methuselah, is estimated to be almost 5000 years old! These hardy trees thrive in unexpected conditions, where almost no other plants can survive. Their wood is very strong and resistant to critters, further extending their longevity.
The unique appearance of these beautiful trees are something to marvel at; their branches growing needles in bunches of 5, and resembling a bottle brush, The Pines wood is so durable, that even when a tree dies, it can remain standing for centuries. Resistant to rot, the surface will slowly erode from things like rain, wind, and freezing temperatures, similar to stone! This lends to its often unusual shape and texture.

At MCRV, you can hop onto your ATV right from your campsite, and be at the bristlecone pine forest in about 15 minutes! Take in the sights of the gorgeous views all around!
