Re-opening for visitors on August 24th! 🥳🏖

NCDOT has announced that N.C. Hwy. 12 on Hatteras Island will soon be safe for travel.

Staged reentry will begin soon:
✅ Priority 2 & 3 (Permanent Residents, Employees and Non-Resident Property Owners): Reentry begins Saturday, Aug. 23 at 12 p.m.
✅ Priority 4 (Visitors): Reentry begins Sunday, Aug. 24 at 5 a.m.

⚠️ Drive slowly—standing water on N.C. Hwy. 12 is saltwater and can damage vehicles. Please give NCDOT crews plenty of room as they continue clearing roads.

Visitors: Be sure to confirm accommodations with your property manager before traveling.

Last stop in Outer Banks! 😊 The Buxton Lighthouse is currently under renovation but for the duration it will be open to the public with some blocked off areas, one being the climb. It will likely open back up completely for climbing in the summer of 2026. 🔨🕰️🌞🚧💡🔧

Just had the Kat's Deli "center of the tunaverse" tuna melt for lunch 😋👍. It was AMAZING and had fresh tuna in it 🐟! We are DEFINITELY coming back tomorrow for more!! 💯🤩👌💖😍
