Did you know Haw River has quite the history? 💙
Here are three fun facts about our little town:
🧵 The Corduroy Capital of the World – During the mid-1900s, Haw River's Cone Mills factories became the world's largest producer of corduroy, employing more than 1,000 people and helping put our town on the map.
🚬 Home to the Roots of a To***co Empire – Artelia Roney Duke, wife of Washington Duke and matriarch of the family behind the American To***co Company (and major supporters of Duke University), was born right here in Haw River.
🎶 A Bluegrass Pioneer Called Haw River Home – Legendary banjo player Charlie Poole grew up in Haw River, and his innovative old-time music helped shape the sound of modern bluegrass.
Small town. Big history. ❤️
