Due to low water levels at Elkhead Reservoir, we are asking our boaters to use caution when launching at the Elkhead boat ramp. We can currently see the end of the concrete boat ramp which is approximately 20 feet from the current water line. Fishing boats have been able to launch but larger boats/ longer trailers may have difficulty. Feel free to contact our visitor center at 970-276-2061 for any additional updates.

We are hosting a public meeting regarding the update of our Parks’ Management Plan on August 27, 2026 from 5:30 - 7 pm at the Yampa River State Park Visitor Center.
The goals of the meeting are to:
Share information about the planning process and how to get involved
Share preliminary visitation survey results
Gather input on park priorities and public interest

Please come show your support for our public range by joining us for a range clean-up. We will start the clean-up at 10 am on Saturday, August 15th. We will be handing out food and prizes around noon. Even if you can only stop by for a few minutes to help, it would be appreciated.

Make some memories this Father’s Day! Bring your dad, grandpa or any special father figure to Yampa River State Park for this family friendly event. Bait, tackle and FREE fishing poles will be available as well as knot tying and casting education. Every dad that attends will also be entered into a raffle to win some great prizes.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to help clean up the Hayden Shooting Range! Our small but mighty crew hauled out an impressive 2,780 pounds of trash and we couldn't have done it without you.

We'd love to see even more community members join us next time, so stay tuned for our next range cleanup day announcement!

Land stewardship matters to us. When we use public lands, we want to leave them better than we found them and that starts with each of us. The trash we removed is just a fraction of what remains on the property, so every bit of effort counts.
