“Black Bear Hideaway” is in the Smokey Mountains of Northeast Georgia/Western North Carolina. It is just a two-hour drive from Atlanta, Greenville or Asheville and is easily accessed by all paved roads. The quaint little towns of Hayesville and Hiawassee are a 15 minute drive down the mountain where there is an Ingles Grocery Store and a variety of restaurants and shops. There are six wineries close by, hiking trails, waterfalls, zip-lining, tubing, white water rafting, horseback riding, golfing and spas to enjoy! There are numerous State Parks to hike and explore and fun little towns within driving distance! Be sure to visit the little Bavarian town of Helen-Georgia or beautiful Downtown Blue Ridge! Lake Chatuge is 1.9 miles down our mountain with a new water park, swimming, boating, kayaking, canoeing, and jet skis to enjoy in the Spring and Summer months! During the Fall months, come experience the beautiful colors of the Fall leaves, visit the apple orchards farms and enjoy the fun Fall Festivals! If you choose the winter months to visit, you can cozy up in front of one of the 2 fireplaces sipping your favorite hot beverage while you enjoy the view of the snow-covered mountain range and sparkling lake below.
“Black Bear Hideaway” features an open floor plan on the main level, with floor to ceiling windows, a great room with a large wood burning fireplace, high ceilings, wet bar, a dining area that seats 6, a large fully equipped kitchen, laundry room, a half bath, and a large furnished deck across the entire back of the house! The view of the Blue Ridge mountain range and Lake Chatuge is simply breathtaking! The very private and beautifully decorated Master Bedroom and bathroom is on the top level with a large walk-in closet and private deck. Before retiring for a good night’s sleep, open the door and step out on the deck to see the stars and moon and the twinkling lights surrounding the lake below. It is truly magical! The Master Bathroom has a large jetted soaking tub to relax in at the end of a busy day and a separate walk-in shower. On the lower level of the house is a big family room with a large gas fireplace and an outside covered deck. Down the hallway there are two bedrooms, one queen and one king, with their own sliding glass doors opening out to the deck and mountain view. For more than six people, the family room on this lower level also has bunk beds and a queen size bed. A full-size bathroom with a tub and shower is at the end of the hallway. Bad weather days or maybe you just feel like staying in? There is a secret “game room” with a full-size pool table, dart board, corn hole and ping-pong table or just relax in front of the fire or out on one of the decks and read, play board games, cards or maybe do a puzzle.
